Chillicothe Elementary has added an additional art teacher, Mrs. Katie Maples!! Mrs. Maples is a 2006 Chillicothe High School Graduate. She attended Northwest Missouri State University and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, minor in Art Education, and a Concentration in Mathematics. In 2015 she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from William Woods University. Mrs. Maples began her teaching career for the Chillicothe R-II School District in 2010. She has taught 3rd grade for the past 13 years. This year she is excited to transition to Elementary Art Teacher. “When I attended college I was originally only going to major in art education, however, I found I could be creative in an elementary classroom too, so I got certified in both. I have loved my time teaching 3rd grade, but my passion is art and it is something I have always dreamed of teaching. I am so thankful for the opportunity to inspire a love of art in our students.” Mrs. Maples is married to Jon, who is the Police Chief for the Chillicothe Police Department. They have two sons, Logan who will be in 3rd grade and Bryson who will be in Kindergarten. Mrs. Maples was Field School Teacher of the Year in 2023 and is a welcome addition to our top notch specials team! *Our elementary students (K-5) will have six specials: Art (2x-once with Mrs. Maples & once with Mrs. Keller) PE, PE/Health; Music; Library.

After two years of being at home pouring into her family before their youngest heads into Kindergarten, Mrs. Jaryn Schneider is thrilled to be back in the classroom. She will be going into her 14th year of education, as a Third Grade teacher at Field Elementary. Mrs. Schneider lives in Chillicothe with her husband Mark, daughter Nora, and two sons Mack and Tyus. Some of her favorites are making memories with family and friends, rearranging, organizing, and trying new things. Mrs. Schneider’s most loved part of being a teacher is figuring out the strengths and interests of each student and using that as a catalyst to grow in areas that may be more challenging. “Getting to be another cheerleader in the life of each student is an absolute privilege. I love watching students do hard things and break through walls that seemed too surmountable. I couldn’t be more excited to be back in action as a Hornet educator!” We are elated to have Mrs. Schneider at Field Elementary School this year!
