Michelle Gardner is one of our awesome substitute teachers here at Chillicothe R-II Schools! She has subbed for over two years and works all of the elementary schools in the District.
Michelle explains that working as a substitute teacher allows her to have the same schedule as her son, Sawyer, and she has the opportunity to work with her sister (Quincy Vinson - a teacher at CELC), and cousin (Kelly Griffith - a teacher at Field).
However, she said the best part about subbing is the relationships she has built with both the students and the staff. “I love subbing in our school district. It’s like one big family and seeing the kids get excited to see me makes my day!” she said.
She said that she would tell anyone interested in substitute teaching to give it a shot. “Everyone here is so welcoming and supportive so don’t be afraid to just try it out. You might be surprised how much you love it!”
Michelle, who said she has lived in the Chillicothe area her entire life, is married to Terry Gardner and they have a son. She said that everyone in her life knows she loves anything Disney, along with cooking. Michelle is also a licensed Cosmetologist!
