In an effort to provide instruments to all students interested in learning to play, Bright Futures will be hosting an Instrument Drive April 25th-28th at the Grand River Area Family YMCA. Everyone with a gently-used, unwanted band instrument is encouraged to contribute.
According to event organizers, those donating are urged to include information regarding the history of the instrument, as well as the donor's contact information, so that a thank you note can be sent at a later date.
Community members who are interested in supporting this effort, but have no instrument to donate, may provide monetary assistance. Organizers say those funds will be used to pay for the cleaning and repair of these instruments to ensure that they are in good working order for student use.
"Music is a powerful form of expression and communication and we are excited for the opportunities this instrument drive will bring to our students," Sarah Cavanah, Chillicothe R-II band director said. She added, "We thank our community members in advance for their participation in supporting the CMS Music Department."
